My approach is flexible and client-centered. I believe that effective therapy starts with a strong therapeutic relationship, so I bring authenticity, warmth, and curiosity into the room—alongside a deep respect for your lived experience.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly two decades of experience helping people navigate life’s challenges and transitions. Since 2006, I’ve worked with individuals facing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, and major life changes. My goal is to offer a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported—where therapy is a collaborative process tailored to your unique needs.

Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready to explore things more deeply, I’m here to help you make sense of what you’re going through and move toward the kind of life you want to be living.

Approach

I believe effective therapy stems from a collaboration between clinician and client. I do not see it as my role to offer advice as an expert on your life; instead, I view the client–therapist relationship as one of equality. I believe you have the answers you seek within you—my role is to help you uncover and embrace the solutions to your challenges.

The way I work with each client varies depending on their goals, identity, and experiences. I strive to understand each person’s personality, individual and cultural identities, social context, and unique history as it relates to the work we do together. You will find me to be genuine, caring, and supportive.

Depending on what brings you to therapy, I may draw from one or more of the following modalities:

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Interpersonal Therapy

A Tailored Approach

While I offer these therapeutic techniques, I want to emphasize that no single modality is strictly adhered to. Therapy is not about fitting into a set structure—it’s about discovering what works for you. I use a flexible, integrative approach that draws from various therapies based on your needs, personality, and goals. Each session is an opportunity to reassess what’s working and make adjustments as we move forward together.

Regardless of the therapeutic approach, the relationship itself is foundational. It may be the single most important factor in the success of therapy—more important than specific skills or training. You’ll get the most out of therapy if we’re a good fit. I hope you’ll reach out to see if I might be that fit for you.

Specialty

People often ask me, “What is your specialty?” and I always feel like I’m expected to have a very smart-sounding response, highlighting specific skills or populations. While I’ve had the honor of working with many populations using specialized approaches, I actually consider myself a general practitioner.

By that, I mean I help people cope with and heal from the issues that affect so many of us today—things like depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, parenting struggles, and trauma.

I’ve also had the opportunity to complete several specialized trainings that have informed my current approach, even if I’m not actively using each one. You can read more about these trainings in my Experience & Qualifications section.

Experience & Qualifications

I began practicing as an LCSW in North Carolina in 2006 and moved to Maine in 2019 where I have continued my practice. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. I gained clinical experience in the field through my employment at Spring Harbor Hospital in Maine, Jefferson Hills Center for Mental Health in Colorado, and Alexander Youth Network in North Carolina. I went on to graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and earned my Master of Social Work degree. I completed my clinical supervision as a provisionally licensed clinician at Daymark Recovery Services in Monroe, North Carolina. After licensure, I went on to practice psychotherapy at Daymark Recovery Services, became the Associate Clinical Director at the outpatient clinic, and later the Clinical Director at the Facility Based Crisis center. Before leaving North Carolina to move to Maine, I had the opportunity to continue my clinical practice at an excellent integrated medical practice, serving adolescents and young adults. This practice included a gender clinic and I had the honor of working with transgender clients in various stages of transition. I completed specialized training for anorexia treatment (FBT) at the Medical University of South Carolina and my TF-CBT training through Duke University. I have completed EMDR training through the EMDR institute and I am moving toward EMDRIA (EMDR International Association) certification.
